Technician Course

The Technician Licensing Class for 2020 will be offered starting on February 4, 2020 beginning at 6:30 PM and continue for nine weeks until March 31, 2020. Each class is about two hours long. The FCC Technician Licensing Exam will be offered on the last day of class, March 31, at a cost of $15. We will be using the ARRL Ham Radio License Manual 4th Edition as the text for the class. It is the student’s responsibility to purchase the text. It is no longer necessary to pass a code test to get a license and we will not be teaching code. The text can be purchased from the ARRL, HRO or Amazon.

The Technician Course is designed to teach those new to the hobby and will be taught by John Munday, K4JNM. If you are interested please contact us and reserve your spot with John Munday K4JNM, john.munday@gmail.com. Space is limited.

Classes will begin on February 4, 2020, beginning at 6:30. Ths held at the Forsyth County Public Library, 585 Dahlonega St (Hwy 9), Cumming, GA 30040.

A test will be offered on the last day. It is not necessary to take the test then, and if you didn’t take the course you may still take the test for any license class on that day. For those who have taken a cram course (one or two days), we invite you to come if you want to find out more about what is behind the hobby, regardless of whether or not you passed the test during the cram course.

There is no cost for the course itself. The only costs are the license manual and the test as described above.

We expect that a General Class course will be offered immediately upon completion of this course, and an Extra Class course will be offered in the fall.
