ARRL Field Day
This year Field Day is June 26th and 27th 2010, from 2pm to 2pm. We’ll be setting up June 25th at 4pm. Our location is at the Cumming Fairgrounds, behind the sawmill in the campground area. To get there, drive in the main entrance across from the main parking lot, past the ticket booth, and turn Left towards the Sawmill and Steam Tractors. Turn Right just before the Sawmill and go behind it to the campground area. Please come out and watch, operate, or just hangout with us!
What’s Field Day?
Every year Amateur Radio operators, including the Sawnee Amateur Radio Association (SARA), set up stations in the field to have fun, play radio, and to ensure that we’ll be able to do so when real emergencies arrive.
ARRL Field Day is the most popular on-the-air operating event in amateur radio. On the last full weekend in June, tens of thousands of amateur radio operators gather for a public demonstration of our service. Field Day is part educational event, part operating event, part public relations event – and ALL about FUN!
