Technician Course

Designed to teach those new to the hobby, this course will be taught by John Munday, K4JNM starting January 3, 2019. If you are interested please contact us and reserve your spot with John Munday K4JNM, Space is limited.

It will run on consecutive Thursday evenings from 6 to 8 pm starting on January 3rd and ending on March 7th. There will be no class on Thursday,  January 31st.  Classes will be held at the Forsyth County Public Library, 585 Dahlonega St (Hwy 9), Cumming, GA 30040.

ATTENTION This class is based on the ARRL Licensing Manual, these books are updated every four years when a new Question Test Pool has been approved. A new book, the fourth edition is now available. Be sure to purchase the correct edition of the textbook.

Technician: The ARRL Ham Radio Licensing Manual - 4rd Edition – Available at Ham Radio Outlet, or Amazon - retail $29.95. ISBN: 978-1-62595-087-1. For a few dollars more the spiral edition is a nice lay flat choice.  (Make sure it says “Includes the latest question pool with answer key, for use July 1, 2018 to June 30, 2022″ on the over!)

General Course

The Sawnee Amateur Radio Association will be offering a General Class Workshop beginning Thursday, March 14, 2019.  The course will run for approximately nine classes, concluding with the FCC Exam.  The course will be conducted on Thursday evenings from 6 to 8 pm at the downtown Cumming Library.  The class will meet March 14, 21, 28 April 11, 18, 25 May 2, 9, with the concluding FCC License Test on May 16. If you would like to enroll in this workshop, please confirm your interest in the course so that we can determine how many seats remain available for others.  Just send an email to Lynn Francis, to get on the class roster.   As with our recently concluded Technician class, there is no fee for the class itself. There will be a $15 fee to take the FCC exam on the last day of the class.  You will need to purchase your study guide, which is the ARRL General Class License Manual.  You will be very happy if you choose to get the spiral bound version.  It is much easier to work with.  Here are three sources for the book:

Amateur Extra License Workshop

SARA is proud to offer a special Study Group for those seeking the upgrade to the Amateur Extra Class  license the fall of  2017 and running for 12 weeks. Classes will be held on October 3, 10, 31.  Nov. 7, 14, 28,  Dec. 5, 12, 19, Jan 9, 16, 23. Classes will be held at Grace Baptist Church 3775 Spot Rd, Cumming, GA 30040.
