Field Day 2009

Field Day 2009

on June 27-28, 2009 we once again operated from the Cumming Fairgrounds, just south of Downtown Cumming, GA in Forsyth County. A great time was had by everyone.

Once again we obtained use of a lot of resources from the local area, including the Forsyth Sherif’s van, a few trailers from the Cumming Police Department, a trailer from Bullseye Marksman (http://www.bullseyemarksman.com/), as well as the Forsyth CERT Trailer, and others. Also included one crank up tower trailer, one trailer mounted crank up mast, and one enclosed trailer mounted mast.

We operated 5F – 5 stations simultaniously for 24 hours. Those include 20m Phone, 40m Phone, 80m Phone, 20m CW/Digital, and 40m/80m CW. Also included, but doesn’t count toward the 5 stations, are the Satellite station and (new this year to us) a 6m station.

For continuity we used Icom-745 radios on all the voice stations, except the 80m voice, and Icom-746ProII’s on the CW stations. This enabled everyone to go to a different station and quickly start operating.

Want to help for next year? Please come to the meetings on the second Monday of each month at the Cumming Police Station at 7 PM to get involved in ARES, or stop by the Field Day sight at the fairgrounds and join in the fun!
